About HandyCheck

HandyCheck is a free collection of browser tests for checking your smartphone's hardware – no app, no sign-up.

The idea is simple: before you buy a used phone, sell your old one, or go to a repair shop over a suspected defect, you should be able to find out in a few minutes what actually works and what doesn't. Modern browsers can access the touchscreen, audio, cameras and sensors – HandyCheck turns that into understandable tests with instructions and guidance on interpreting the results.

Privacy is a core principle: all tests run entirely locally on your device. Microphone recordings, camera images and location data are processed exclusively in your browser and never transmitted to us. Your test results are stored only by your own browser.

The content on this site is researched with care and reviewed regularly. Still: these tests and guides don't replace a professional diagnosis – for safety-relevant problems (swollen battery, device running hot) please see a repair professional.
