How HandyCheck works

Every test uses capabilities modern browsers provide natively: the touchscreen test records your touches, the speaker test generates sine tones through the Web Audio API, the sensor test reads your gyroscope and accelerometer. Nothing is installed and nothing is uploaded – all tests run entirely on your device. Some tests (microphone, camera, GPS, sensors) ask for your permission first; that's a normal browser security feature.

After each test you rate the result yourself: works, partly, or broken. Ratings are stored only locally in your browser so this page can show your overall progress.

What a website can test – and what it can't

A browser test reliably reveals a lot: dead touch zones, pixel defects, silent speaker channels, a deaf microphone, failed sensors. But there are limits: true battery health (remaining capacity), the charging port, SIM reception and the fingerprint sensor can't be measured seriously in a browser. For those, use your manufacturer's hidden diagnostic menus or your system's battery settings.

Is HandyCheck free?

Yes, all tests are free and require no sign-up. The site is funded by advertising.

Is any of my data uploaded?

No. All tests run locally in your browser. Microphone recordings and camera images never leave your device.

Does it work on iPhone?

Yes, with two exceptions: Safari blocks websites from using vibration and reading the battery level for security reasons. That's an iOS restriction, not a defect of your device.
